October Is Bullying Awareness Month

The School District of North Fond du Lac defines bullying as follows: Bullying is intentional or deliberate behavior and involves an imbalance of power. Bullying may be motivated by an actual or perceived distinguishing characteristic, such as but not limited to, age, national origin, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical attributes, physical or mental ability or disability, and social, economic, or family status.

To highlight October being Bullying Prevention & Awareness month, Bessie Allen's School Resource Officer, Shawn Hendrix, and I will be visiting each grade level and talking with students about CYBERBULLYING. We will be sharing with students the Heads Up: Stop, Think, Connect curriculum made available through the Federal Trade Commission. We will also make available a resource for parents titled: NET CETERA: Chatting With Kids About Being Online. This resource can be picked up in the Bessie Allen main office, or found HERE.

Officer Hendrix and I will also be reminding students of the CONFIDENTIAL BULLYING REPORT FORM that can be found on the district website (or by clicking on the text above). If any student is experiencing bullying in the School District of North Fond du Lac, please report it as soon as possible to an adult at the school.
